On August 25, I agreed to take part in Blog Action Day. This year, the focus is on the issue of poverty.
Since I'm not a big writer, and my job is in volunteer management, I thought I'd post a few volunteer opportunities. These are opportunities I found in the St. Paul area that address the issue of poverty. So, if you're reading this, get out there and do something about the issue of poverty.
(These are all volunteer opportunities at organizations I personally trust and where I know the staff. Good people.)
- Help customers shop at Bridging in Roseville.
- Work in the kitchen or deliver meals for Metro Meals on Wheels.
- Get friends together and pack up boxes of food in Maplewood at Second Harvest Heartland.
- Become a child care assistant with Children's Home Society and Family Services.
- And my personal favorite, end poverty with the long term solution. Volunteer with Goodwill and help prepare people for work.
